Detox At Hospital

LAKE Macquarie residents with drug and alcohol problems will now be able to detox closer to home.

NSW Special Minister for State John Della Bosca officially opened the Lakeview Detoxification Unit at Belmont Hospital yesterday.

The unit has four beds for medical detoxification.

"The new medical detoxification services will complement Lakeview's existing services by providing a higher level of care for patients with complex alcohol and drug withdrawal needs," Mr Della Bosca said.
